Peel Newcomer Strategy Group is a unique initiative supported by the Region of Peel and United Way of Peel to champion a coordinated and collaborative strategy for the successful integration of newcomers in the economy and community of Peel, providing prosperity for all and establishing a centre of excellence that will provide a best practice model for other regions across Canada.
Evelyn Myrie is Director of the Peel Newcomer Strategy Group. Ms. Myrie has more than 20 years of leadership experience, including positions with Status of Women Canada and Heritage Canada.
Ms. Myrie currently co-chairs Hamilton's Centre for Civic Inclusion, and is a member of several community development organizations, including the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, the John Holland Institute for Leadership and the Hamilton Pan American Games Bid Committee.
She has achieved many community honours, including the City of Hamilton's Woman of the Year (Public Affairs) and the Phenomenal Woman Award by Women for PACE, to name a few.
